ezyLegal app privacy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Draft. This page is being finalised by counsel together with our Privacy Policy. Questions? Reach us at [email protected].

This page explains what the ezyLegal app for iPhone and Android does with your information. Everything in our Privacy Policy applies to the app as well, including who we are, how we use and store information, the AI providers we use, who we share information with, your rights and how to complain. This page only adds what is specific to the app.

1. Signing in

You can sign in with your email and password, or with Google or Microsoft. If you use Google or Microsoft, they tell us your name and email address so we can sign you in. The app keeps your sign-in in your phone’s secure storage. If you turn on the app lock, your phone checks your Face ID, fingerprint or passcode itself; the app and ezyLegal never receive your face or fingerprint data.

2. What you add to your case

The app sends us only what you choose to add to your case, and we store it on your case like a document you upload on the website. The app asks for each phone permission when you first use the feature that needs it, and you can turn any of them off in your phone’s settings.
  • Camera: photos and document scans you take.
  • Location: when you take a photo, the app can show where it was taken. The location is shown on your screen only and is not sent to us.
  • Microphone: voice memos you record and choose to upload.
  • Photos and files: only the photos, videos and files you pick, or share to ezyLegal from another app. The app does not look through your photo library.
  • WhatsApp chats: a chat you export from WhatsApp and share to ezyLegal, with any photos in it.

3. Text messages and screen recordings

The app cannot read your Messages, WhatsApp or other messaging apps by itself. You can add a conversation in one of two ways.
  • The ezyLegal Messages shortcut (iPhone): it runs in Apple’s Shortcuts app on your phone, copies the messages from the conversation you pick and passes them to the app, which clears your clipboard once it has read them. Only that conversation is sent to us.
  • Screen recording (iPhone and Android): recording starts only when you tap Start recording and approve your phone’s screen recording prompt, and stops when you tap Stop. No sound is recorded. Everything on your screen is captured while it runs, including notifications, so open only the conversation you want to add. The app sends us still images from the recording, AI reads the conversation from them as described in section 4 of the Privacy Policy, and the recording and the chat are added to your case.

Conversations contain other people’s names, numbers and messages. We hold them as part of your case, as described in section 2 of the Privacy Policy.

4. Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store a notification address for your phone so we can tell you about new messages and updates on your case. They are delivered through Expo’s notification service and Apple or Google. You can turn them off at any time in your phone’s settings.

5. Information kept on your phone

The app keeps a copy of some of your case information on your phone so it opens quickly and can show it when you are offline. Signing out removes it.

6. What the app does not do

The app has no advertising, does not track you across other apps or websites, does not read your contacts, and does not sell your information.

7. Deleting your account

To delete your ezyLegal account and the personal information we hold about you, email [email protected] from the email address on your account. We will confirm it is you and delete your account. Some records, such as your lawyer’s file for your matter, must be kept for a period by law or professional rules, as described in section 9 of the Privacy Policy; we keep only those, and only for as long as required. Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
