ezylegal
Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 May 2026
Draft. These terms are being finalised by counsel. Use of ezylegal during this period is governed by the spirit of these provisions; final wording will replace this draft shortly. Questions? Reach us at [email protected].
1. Who we are
ezylegal Pty Ltd (ABN to be displayed at finalisation), trading as ezylegal, operates this platform connecting Australian law firms and individual lawyers (“Lawyers”) with clients seeking legal services (“Clients”). In these Terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to ezylegal Pty Ltd.
2. Accepting these terms
By creating an account on ezylegal, accepting an invitation to join a firm, or otherwise using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you are signing up on behalf of a firm, you confirm you have authority to bind that firm.
3. Eligibility & verification (Lawyers)
Lawyers signing up must hold a current Australian practising certificate and current professional indemnity insurance. Practising status and insurance are verified by our team before an account is enabled to accept client matters. We may decline or revoke access where eligibility cannot be confirmed.
4. Lawyer-client relationship
ezylegal is a technology platform, not a law firm. Legal services and legal advice are provided by the Lawyer to the Client directly. We do not provide legal advice and we are not a party to the Lawyer-Client engagement. Costs disclosures, client engagement, and professional obligations remain with the Lawyer.
5. Fees, settlements and payment processing
Where ezylegal facilitates payments — including settlement disbursements via Stripe Connect — we act as a payment facilitator, not as a trust account or escrow agent. Detailed fee and settlement provisions, including the atomic-split disbursement flow, are set out in the Payment Architecture Schedule provided to firms during onboarding.
6. Rachel and AI-assisted features
The platform includes AI features (including the AI paralegal referred to as Rachel) that assist Lawyers with intake, drafting, and case management. AI output is generated automatically and must be reviewed by a qualified Lawyer before being relied on or sent to a Client. AI features are tools to assist Lawyers, not a substitute for professional judgement.
7. Data, confidentiality & security
Use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy. Firm and Client data is stored in Australia. Lawyers and firm administrators are responsible for managing access within their firm.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the platform to provide legal services for which you are not licensed, to engage in misleading conduct, to attempt to circumvent platform security, to scrape data outside permitted API surfaces, or to interfere with other users.
9. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts where eligibility lapses, where terms are breached, or where required by law. You may close your account at any time; matters in progress will be wound up in accordance with the Lawyer’s professional obligations.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, ezylegal’s liability is limited as set out in the final form of these Terms. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights that cannot be lawfully excluded under Australian consumer law.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to firm administrators by email. Continued use of the platform after notification constitutes acceptance.
12. Contact
